How To Turn Off Selunite Outpost And Disable Its Defensive Systems

Navigating the Underdark in Baldur's Gate 3 presents players with complex environmental hazards, none more striking than the Selunite Outpost. Guarded by statues that launch devastating magical attacks, entering or exiting this ancient fortress can easily wipe out an unprepared party. Fortunately, understanding how the stronghold operates allows adventurers to safely bypass or permanently deactivate its threat.

Destroying the Glowing Moonstone

The primary mechanism powering the outpost defense turrets is the glowing moonstone mounted on the central statue's staff. Players can simply use a ranged weapon or damage-dealing spell to shatter this gem, which permanently shuts down the laser fire. Once the moonstone breaks, the statues lose their magical power source, allowing your party to roam freely across the courtyard.

Stealth Methods for Avoidance

If you prefer a non-destructive approach, sneaking past the defenses is entirely viable. The automated statues rely on line of sight to target intruders, meaning characters in stealth mode will not trigger their attack routines. Entering turn-based mode helps coordinate your movement, ensuring your entire party reaches safety without taking damage.

Utilizing Alternative Outpost Exits

Adventurers are not forced to exit through the main gate guarded by the active defense system. The outpost features broken windows along the side walls that allow players to jump down onto surrounding ledges. Using spells like Feather Fall guarantees a safe descent, bypassing the statue range altogether.

Alternative Ways to Bypass Defenses

For players seeking unique solutions, throwable items or antimagic effects can also neutralize security hazards. Utilizing Sussur Blooms nearby dampens magic, rendering automated systems inert while you explore the area. Additionally, unlocking side doors or using Mage Hand maneuvers offers tactical flexibility when navigating tough subterranean strongholds.
